Beat the Teachers

Battle of the Belgrove Girls and Teachers

During Active School Week, each teacher took part in some friendly competition with their class, choosing a skill they felt very competent in. There were balance competitions, penalty shoot outs, target practice, skipping challenges, bean bag toss and more. As talented as our teachers are, it was the girls of Belgrove Infant Girl's school that really excelled. Well done, girls!

The Launch of our Active Walkway

We are so thrilled with our Active Walkway and want to thank the Irish Heart Foundation for helping us to map out the route. During Active School's Week we officially opened the walkway and enjoyed some walkway activities. Activities including a Exercise Route, a Dancing Route and a Mindfulness Route.

PA Sports Day

Our wonderful Parent's Association wanted to help with our first Active School Week and we were delighted to be able to invite them in, keeping within Covid Guidelines. We organised an outdoor Sports Day for the girls and the parents assisted in setting up and running the various stations. The girls had a chance to try lots of classic sports day activities! Thank you, PA, for such a great day!

Orienteering

Funny Faces on the Astro

During Active School's Week, the girls had a chance to try some Orienteering. We were really impressed by their ability to understand and interpret the information given to them. Each team tried to source the right equipment and follow the instructions on their map. Lots of fun was had and the girls are looking forward to trying some more Outdoor and Adventure activities this year.

Co-Operative Games and Team Building Exercises

Here at Belgrove Infant Girls School, we recognise the importance of working together and supporting each other. We ended our Active School Week with a day dedicated to Team Work. There were various activities for the girls to try in the hall, the yard and the garden. The girls has a great time - this week really strengthened their friendships.

Beat the Principal

Basketball Shoot Out

Our very own principal, Mrs. O'Driscoll took on a range of classes during the week in a basketball shoot out. Each class had a tally sheet and kept track of scores. Sadly, it was not Mrs. O'Driscoll's week as all classes managed to 'Beat the Principal'. Well done, girls!

Let's Get Moving, Let's get Belgrooving!

Whole School Event - Dress Up Walk

We had so much fun on our Whole School Dress Up Walk, The girls were invited to dress as their favourite sports person or ready for their favourite sport and to take part in a 2km walk in our locality. Members of the Parents Association met us along the way with special heart-raising activities to try. It was wonderful to see the range of sports represented by the girls and to hear them chatting about their sporting heroes. Thank you to all involved! We hope you enjoy the photos.

Active School Week

April 26th - 30th 2021

It is with great excitement that we can announce that our first Active School’s Week will be going ahead on April 26th. This is a week-long event where the girls will have the chance to try a variety of events in relation to fitness, sports and well- being. There is truly something for everyone!
During Active School’s Week it is crucial that the girls are in their tracksuits and runners every day. Written homework will be replaced with Active Homework and we ask you to get involved with the Active Week at home.
We will kick off our Active School Week in collaboration with the Parent’s Association who have organised a Dress-Up Sponsored Walk for Monday April 26th. The girls can come to school as their favourite sports person or dressed for their favourite sport. More info to follow from the PA. They will also be giving a helping hand on Thursday for the PA Sports Day. Thank you to the Parents Association.
During the week there will be orienteering, Beat the Principal and Beat the Teacher Challenges, dance classes, water safety, team building exercises and special surprises. Keeping all that in mind, we have a little competition for you! We want to promote Active School Week around our school and building. Design a poster for Active School Week incorporating some of the activities planned for us to hang in our school. The winning entry will also be used as the image on future correspondence! Entries to be returned to school by Wednesday April 14th.
We would like to assure you that we have taken all HSE guidelines on board for planning for our Active School Week. After what has been a difficult time for many, our aim is to plan a happy and safe week for everyone!
Thank you for all your co-operation thus far.

Active School Week

May 2020 - Postponed

It is with a heavy heart that we are postponing our first Active School Week due to the situation surrounding Covid-19. All activities will be re-arranged for a later date. Right now we are all practising social distancing but we look forward to the day when we can dance and play together again.
